Lindsay Lohan Lied to cops Friday by telling them she was Not driving the Porsche that slammed into a truck on the Pacific Coast Highway, and as a result she could be prosecuted and her probation could be revoked.Our sources say, when Lindsay was in the hospital getting checked out after the accident, cops from the Santa Monica Police Dept. paid a visit.Lindsay told police she was a passenger in the Porsche and her assistant was driving. But the lie didn't stick because later Lindsay's assistant told police Lindsay was behind the wheel.We're told police are writing up a report that will include Lindsay's lie. It's a crime to provide false info to a police officer. In addition, lying to police could trigger a probation violation in her shoplifting case, which means she faces the possibility of jail on 2 fronts.Several eyewitnesses at the scene tell TMZ, after the crash Lindsay and her assistant both got out of the car on the passenger side, which means Lindsay had to climb over the console.It appears Lindsay had concocted the lie almost immediately after impact.

At some point last week Lindsay Lohan managed to crash her Porsche into the back of an 18-wheeler, an accident that put both her and her assistant in hospital and left many wondering exactly how she could afford a Porsche on her guest-appearance-on-foreign-tv-show salary. It then turned out that the car was a rental and Lindsay and her assistant were fine, so we simply dismissed it as another hilarious mishap in The Adventures of Sausagelips Quickfingers.
UNTIL TODAY. Because today is the day that we found out Lindsay lied to the police about the accident. She lied. She told the police she wasn't driving the Porsche when the crash happened, but then her assistant said that she was. Naturally everyone assumed it was Lindsay lying rather than the assistant, because she's got a history of this kind of thing. So maybe she isn't actually lying, but we'd like to think she is, because it's much more fun that way.
But why should everyone think Lindsay's lying? Well, according to wholly reliable eye witnesses at the scene, both Lindsay and her assistant climbed out of the passengers side, which is EXACTLY THE SIDE A KNOWN CRIMINAL WOULD CRAWL OUT OF and has nothing to do with the other side of the car being smashed into little pieces by the collision. Although it probably didn't help she said the truck driver cut her off, then accused him of lying, then instead decided that actually her brakes had failed.
Worst of all though, in America it's a crime to lie to the police. Not like here, where you can say whatever you like to the coppers and it's gets written up as 'a bit of fun'. No, in America you go to jail and then you get electrocuted to death. Happens to everyone.
So, if Lindsay does turn out to be porkie-pieing, this could result in two things happening: Firstly, Lindsay could go to jail for all that lying and secondly, Lindsay could go to jail for all that lying as well as breaking her probation from the shoplifting 'incident'.
All in all it's looking pretty bad for Lindsay, and even if she does have a starring role in 'Dick and Liz' or whatever it's called, there's a real possibility she could spend another 13-14 hours in jail. We blame the parents. Who lets their child rent a Porsche? Aside from Bono.
